Information-centric Networking (ICN) proposes a new concept of networking communications, shifting the focus from the host-centric view to a new information-centric perspective. Due to the fundamental changes that this approach requires, and considering the ever increasing amount of proposals that worldwide research groups are producing, targeting different aspects of the ICN architecture, the definition of baseline scenarios may be useful to establish a common background upon which the pros and cons of the various proposals can be highlighted.
Following the scenarios analyzed in the IRTF ICNRG Internet Draft "Information-centric Networking: Baseline Scenarios", topology files, as well as some basic configuration files, are provided. In particular, these files have been designed to be used with the ndnSIM simulation tool provided by the UCLA Internet Research Lab (IRL), which explicitly targets the Named Data Networking (NDN) architecture.
The file baseline-scenarios.zip has the following folder structure:
- Common Topologies: this folder contains topology files of some core networks that can be used in simulations.
- Dumbbell Topology: a classical Dumbbel topology can be configured according to the user needs.
- Multiple Wireless Access: it consists of an example scenario in which nodes can take advantage of multiple wireless connections to retrieve the desired contents.
- Vanet: a typical VANET scenario with a urban grid is provided. The mobility trace created with SUMO, can be imported in the main file of the simulated scenario.
Inside each folder, there is a README file which explains how to use the respective files.
